The Skin of My Teeth

Please no hate mail. Just scrapping for a point.

I find an odd question returning to me as I think about how the queen wants to abandon her kingdom and be with a man. Is this why the man is the ruler of the house normally? Is it why we've only had male presidents? Males seem suited to rule because of a near lack of emotion. The kingdom is greater than the self. Aeneas would never abandon the people or the foundation of Rome for a woman...but the woman would let it dissolve for a selfish love. It seems very selfish, yes. This must be why Rome was such a strong empire while Carthage fell.

  1. I agree. Women just are not made to rule. We are made to be at the side of man, to be his partner. We are emotional creatures for a reason, and that reason has nothing to do with ruling. We're naturally nurturing caretakers, for the sake of our families. Unfortunately, most women disagree with this and go all feminist. The simple fact is that this is the way we were made, and because of Eve's blunder, we are placed under the man in the rankings. However, the man of course would willingly lay down his life for his wife and would go to any lengths to protect her. This system is not nearly as one sided as people like to make it.

  2. I think that it's an overstatement to say, "Males seem suited to rule because of a near lack of emotion." Maybe if it was like, "Some males..." because though there have been great male leaders, there have also been some awful ones. I don't think all women would make good leaders (Dido being one of them), like I don't believe all men make good leaders, but still today women are treated differently and not given the same respect as men. We've only ever had male presidents because that's the way it's always been. Women have evolved in the last, well however long ago Dido lived.
And something Alex said, "We're naturally nurturing caretakers, for the sake of our families." Isn't that enough to protect our country? To strive for what will be best for the citizens? Women would make great leaders because they would do whatever it took to be sure her country was taken care of. What I mean is being a good leader isn't just about being a man or a woman, it's about the person inside the clothes of gender.

I didn't mean to "go all feminist", I was just saying.

  3. I agree with Will completely in the fact that men are better rulers than women because of no emotions. I guess thats just the way things are and the way things should be...
