I Am Shadow

The good is eternal, and shadows are temporal. So I am just a shadow. Im visible to all, and I try to achieve the good. Socrates said that we must aim for the good, and we will spend our entire lives trying to get there. But will we ever truly reach it? No, we wont, and yes we will. We wont reach it while we are alive, but we can reach it after we die. We can go to heaven, and spend the rest of eternity with the ultimate Good: God.

I am just a shadow, but I will live my entire life trying to be the best man that I can possibly be. I hope to get as close as I can to the good, but I know that I'll never reach it until i die. That won't stop me from trying though. I want to be a good Christian man, an example for others to follow. I want to bring glory to God in everything that I do. Life is the ultimate journey from elusion to perception. We mortals are certainly a deluded bunch. We always think that the universe revovles around us, but we are very wrong. We are only a tiny, insignificant mark on the line of eternity. God is the only thing that matters in this life. That's why I try to honor Him with every single one of my actions, and I try to always give Him the glory for anything that I do. It's all God, not me. I am a shadow, I want to be a loyal servant to God until the day I day. And I want to be a servant to others just like Jesus was. So sure, I'm just a shadow, but I plan on using my existence for the glory of God's eternal kingdom.

I commented on Lucas' last post. It was a good one.

  1. This was really interesting. I like how you wrote it poetically. (: It also seems to link back to some of the things we've been talking about in True Spin and also the author Louie Giglio (which I think Neal must be reading because he sounds practically like he is quoting Giglio) And its cool how you linked together a truth of Christianity to this ancient philosophy.

  2. It is very likely that I watch too many Disney movies because when I read "shadow" I immediately think something dark or bad (as they are so often portrayed in Disney movies). But this put "shadow" into new perspective.

The reality of it is that the shadows appear because a body/object is intercepting light or it is the shaded outline of what is. We have two options: we can be His shadow and follow in His likeness--reflecting Him, or intercept His light and ATTEMPT to deflect Him.

  3. In the Christian life, striving to reach the ultimate Good is what brings us closer to God and helps us to accomplish His will voluntarily. Although a concious Christian knows that they will never reach that ultimate point in this life, it's that drive that builds the relationship between man and 'I Am.' Socrates, indeed, made a valid point that can be reasonably applied here. Nice find, sir. And thanks for the compliments to my post. ^_^
