Exodus means "departure"

I just looked up the meaning of exodus so I put it as my title :)

So God hardens Pharaoh's heart a bunch of times. But only after the 6th plague does he finally get to Pharaoh's heart, and he lets Moses and the israelites go. Hmmmm, so why did God wait so long to soften his heart? God could have softened his heart after the first one or even before that. But why didn't he? Why didn't God just punish Pharaoh? God punished all of the Egyptians, but Pharaoh could have cared less. So why punish all of them? I don't know if maybe God punished the Egyptians because He wanted them to see how powerful he was? I'm not sure, although that sounds pretty good haha. I guess maybe He wants them to see that Pharaoh is bad a person. Well we won't ever really know the answer. But I feel kind of bad for the Egyptians. Although they were probably mean to the Hebrews too.

I commented on Malory's.

  1. I would have to say that this question could be applied to most things in life. What are the consequences to our actions? What did the Egyptians do to merit that punishment? And also, regarding why God didn't soften his heart at a different time...God's timing is perfect. Plus, if God meddled in human affairs any more wouldn't he be much more like the Greek gods??? However He still has the power to.
